My music video for John Cage’s “In a Landscape.” This video was featured in the Festival dell’architettura in Italy, in 2008, to represent the physical geography of a landscape.

hmm from what i can … hmm from what i can understand, since the piece was actually published in 1948 it doesnt fall under the copyright act of 1976… so im guessing it should be alright. If you use a modern version which was recorded by someone after 1976 though, you would be in breach. But id still use it anyway, its very unlikely youll run into any trouble….
Thanks for this … Thanks for this courageous suggestion!
From internet, I came to know; works created after January 1, 1978 will be protected for the life of the composer (author) plus 70 years. But this piece of music was created in 1948. So I hope i can use it…no??
“To with … “To with reality! I want to die in music, not in reason or in prose. People don’t deserve the restraint we show by not going into delirium in front of them. To with them!”
– Louis Ferdinand Celine (French writer and physician, 1894-1961)
Hi all,

… Hi all,
Greetings!
Ive been really trying to get this info for quite some time. But no luck!
Could anyone tell me how I can get the legal permission to use this amazing piece of music on my architecture portfolio website (non commercial)?
Id really appreciate any kind hearted soul’s response!
Peace!
Emran
I guess Dj Shadow … I guess Dj Shadow uses this piece of John Cage on one of his songs called “Something Happened that Day”
I’m an architect and i loved the video also
Ditto … Ditto Typhoonchaser’s comment. I inadvertently recorded a nasty argument between my parents in the 1970s while this piece played in the background. The music transformed the ugly encounter into something quite beautiful and melancholy. I lost track of the piece, but was reacquainted while listening to BBC 3′s Late Junction programe, May 19, hosted by Verity Sharp. Thank you.
CONTINUED… See, … CONTINUED… See, I’m a writer… In my head, I’m breaking things down this way: art that uses “narrative” to hypnotize or induce its audience and art that breaks narrative. In a way, Brecht and Cage had that in common. THey didn’t try to induce the “fictive dream.” They made “AWAKE” art. All pop film today is sentimental “narrative” film. Is there a way to make pop film with Cagian elements, or pop film like Duchamp’s “readymades?”
I think Cage would … I think Cage would have loved your video (except that you did him the disservice of cutting the piece short! Shame!)
He would have loved the relationships that formed between the images and the music, the chance of what came… That the film did not “tell a story” but was simply what it was.
For example, Cage said his favorite film was a piece filmed with the lens cap on. Just pops and streaks…
Question: Do you see applications for a “Cagain” aesthetic in pop cinema?
grabaciones de esta … grabaciones de esta clase de msuca son muy escasas y dificiles de encontrar, pero de todos modos puedes encontrar los cd es sitos espcialisados de internet
i love how this … i love how this video creates visual suspense with the blackout bits of the video. goes well with his 4’33 – objective of suspense. great work.
This video reminds … This video reminds me of the wanderlust I feel everytime I’m riding a train. Nevertheless it makes me calm and thoughtful. Just beautiful.
Eso espero. Bueno, … Eso espero. Bueno, justamente lo que yo conocía de Cage, (gracias a leer mucho sobre The Beatles y sus sociales) eran sus rarezas y su concepto de música. Por eso me sorprendió esta composición. Muchas gracias Roberto!!
